For journalists,
grammar is everything. Grammar is a big factor in the content of an article
produced by a journalist. Through writing, journalists are able to provide
people with messages and information. Articles are done by journalist in order
for the public to be able to read and understand what is currently happening
around them. How are the people going to understand what the news writer wants
them to understand if poor grammar destroys the content of the whole article?
Having
good grammar is a major requirement of a writer because grammar affects the
content and message greatly. Through having good grammar, a certain idea is
presented better and clearer. It is not enough for a journalist to have vast
ideas because these ideas wouldn’t be manifested if he has bad grammar. The
whole idea would be pointless if it is not presented in an orderly way.
The execution of
the idea affects everything. It is important for a journalist to have a wide
vocabulary. Words are what make a journalist and it is important for one to
maximize the use of his gift of words. The use of a vast vocabulary affects the
construction of an article. It is important for journalists to know and use
various words because through this, he is able to make a remarkable article.
Though impressing the public shouldn’t be the priority or primary intention of
the journalist, it is still important for an article to be noticed. The use of
a variety of words can help in making an article noticeable.
Through
mastering the use of words, a journalist could be skilled enough to make his
article interesting. He can construct the words in such a way that he is able
to capture the public’s attention and help them relate well to what is written
in the article.
Also,
it would be very embarrassing for an article to be published when it has poor
grammar. The public is very meticulous. They are very skeptical especially when
it comes to the information being handed out to them. It is very natural for
them to criticize what they’re reading and who’s writing the article. The
public wants to make sure that the article they’re reading is reliable and that
the one who wrote it is professional and has good skills. One of the primary
criteria of the public is the journalist’s grammar. How will the public trust a
journalist isn’t good enough to write a polished article?
One
of the criteria that manifest the good skills of a good journalist is his
skills in grammar. Having good grammar is one of the bases that employers and
readers use in order to test a writer’s skill and in order to see if the
journalist’s construction of his story is good. It is important for a
journalist to be trained to have good grammar because this will not only help
him in writing, it will also help him gain confidence in himself.
